DECA prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs for careers in marketing, finance, hospitality and management in high schools and colleges around the globe. Each year, the members of the various programs across the State of New Jersey participate in career competitions for the opportunity to win scholarships, awards and opportunities to compete against students from all over the world in different career areas. These students compete in many fields, including Retail, Professional Sales, Sports and Entertainment, Business and Financial Services, Travel and Tourism, Automotive Services, Fashion Merchandising and Hospitality to name a few.
In order to offer this unique opportunity for our students, we are in need of businesspeople who would be willing to share their expertise in this setting. This year we are offering a number of opportunities to judge all over the state. The conference dates and locations are as follows:
January 5, 2016 – Regional Career Development Conference, Crowne Plaza Hotel, Cherry Hill, NJ
January 6, 2016 – Regional Career Development Conference, Crowne Plaza Hotel, Cherry Hill, NJ
January 6, 2016 – Regional Career Development Conference, Ramapo College, Mahwah, NJ
January 7, 2016 – Regional Career Development Conference, Kean University, Union, NJ
January 8, 2016 – Regional Career Development Conference, Kean University, Union, NJ
February 22, 2016 – State Career Development Conference, Crowne Plaza Hotel, Cherry Hill, NJ
February 25, 2016 – State Career Development Conference, Crowne Plaza Hotel, Cherry Hill, NJ
At our regional conferences, we ask you to commit to being present from 8:30am until 2pm, but the events usually end earlier than that. These events also offer networking opportunities at both breakfast and lunch, which is provided complimentary for your time and effort. At our State Conferences, we usually ask judges to be available a little longer, as we have more students to evaluate.
We also offer judging of written events, and presentations. If you are interested in judging a written event, you will need to arrive Sunday or Wednesday evening to review the papers prior to the student’s presentations the next day. DECA will provide a complimentary one-night hotel stay and dinner for written event judges only, and will make your reservation upon your request to judge. This is in addition to our customary networking breakfast and lunch.
If you have never had the experience of serving as a judge for one of our conferences, we hope you will be able to fit one of these days into your busy schedule. You will have the opportunity to see very talented future business executives in action. Please fill out the following form to let us know of your interest. Participation from individuals like you will provide an atmosphere of professionalism that will promote top notch competition among the students. Thank you in advance for your help.
